Andrew Mawson, Bsc (Hons)

Managing Director

Andrew is a founding member of AWA and is regarded as a leading specialist on Workplace Strategy and Change Management. He has led a number of transition programmes for major corporations designed to improve the strategic performance of the Workplace and the Facilities Management Operation.

Andrew's most recent projects have been with organisations including Merrill Lynch, Standard Life, Prudential, Nationwide Building Society, Lloyds TSB and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

In 2006 Andrew led a research programme on behalf of The British Council for Offices which examined the way in which technology had been used in leading companies to facilitate a change in workplace culture and design.

He is a regular speaker and writer of the subject of Workplace Management, Workplace Strategy and Workplace Change Management.

Anna Bateson, MHCIMA MBA

Associate

Anna is an Associate of AWA and an expert in leading strategic change. She has a track record of helping organisations develop change strategies and coaching Board and Executive Management to realise their ambitions. Working with Andrew Mawson, she designed the AWA change management processes. A founder member of the Price Waterhouse organisation and change management consultancy, she has worked in this field since 1988. As a corporate member of the Henley Future Work Forum for both Price Waterhouse and British Airways, she has both academic and operational experience of managing the design and implementation of complex change across a range of industries.

An experienced facilitator of cross-functional teams, she has coached extensively on the issues connected with the implementation of new strategies and structures and the introduction and impact of technological change. She has spoken and written on a range of topics, including the shape of organisations and the role of executives in a dynamic world.

Chris Wood, FBIFM, MIH

Senior Associate

Chris joined AWA in 2003 and adds to our expertise in outsourcing and service management.

Prior to joining AWA, Chris was a Senior Executive within BP for 35 years, holding a variety of FM and Procurement related roles within the business operations and in the headquarters function. He was the architect of BP’s well-documented FM outsourcing in Europe and, more recently, in the USA. Chris is on the BIFM Board and Members Council and chairs the Professional Standards & Education Committee.

Graham Jervis, BSc, PhD

Director of Service Management

Graham is Director of Service Management with specific responsibility for our consulting on organisational and performance reviews of business services. He has conducted many service management reviews for major corporations and is accredited under the ISEB for IT Service Management.

From his early career in the oil industry, Graham developed as an IT professional working with organisations such as Esso and ICL. Within ICL he led the company's System Management developments.

Helen Guest, ACIB

Associate

Helen has ten years' experience of delivering major business driven change projects within the financial services sector prior to joining AWA. She has experience in the fields of strategy development, business and operational design, change management and implementation.

Helen has undertaken many projects across all aspects of the Financial Service Industry and has worked with clients such as Lloyds TSB, Lloyds of London and Merrill Lynch as well as across other industries with clients such as Pfizer, BAA and Littlewoods.

Ian Ingrey-Counter, BSc (Hons) FBIFM

Associate

Ian, a science graduate, started in the food industry (Spillers and Pall Europe) and moved on to medical research management and administration (Department of Health/Ministry of Defence).

Moving to London, his main career included Head of Facilities for The Wellcome Trust and Head of Science Estates, Cancer Research UK.

Ian was involved with major organisational change, relocation with space and project planning together with the development and delivery of FM services.

Ian has served on the BIFM Professional Standards & Education Committee and is a judge on the BIFM International Awards panel.

Karen Plum, BA (Hons)

Director of Operations

Karen has over 15 years experience working in the financial services sector, initially as a human resource specialist, and later worked as an internal consultant to her organisation's self-employed direct sales force.

She has experience in strategic planning, customer research, data analysis and project management. Her recent work has involved strategic reviews and the introduction and implementation of advanced working practices. Clients with whom she has worked on assignments include Merrill Lynch, Infineum, BP, Microsoft, BAT Industries, Pfizer, Barclays Bank, Prudential, BAA, Lloyds TSB and Ernst & Young.

Marjorie Raymond, MA, DMS, DipPsych, FCIM

Associate

Marjorie is a highly experienced Change Manager who secures value by helping people to change how they work. She has 20 years financial services sector experience leading major change projects and has recent experience of delivering large projects within multidisciplinary virtual team environments. She specialises in the area where people, machines, and or buildings interact.

Clients with whom Marjorie has worked include the Royal Bank of Scotland and Standard Life.

Michael Gottlieb, BSc (Hons)

Associate

After graduating with a degree in Computer Science and Business Administration, Michael joined a Software House developing banking software.

Whilst working on normal IT projects, Michael soon realised that there must be a better way to work. He instigated a number of internal Flexible Working projects whilst at Cable & Wireless and ended up advising external clients using his knowledge.

Michael specialises in the IT and Telecoms required to enable all forms of advanced working. Companies Michael has worked with include IBM, Sema, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, Prudential, Pfizer and Littlewoods.

Norrie Walker, BScArch, MBIFM

Associate

Prior to embarking on a career in consultancy, Norrie gained extensive experience in Premises and Facilities Management, including the building and management of a large Premises portfolio for the Standard Life Assurance Company for its Head Office, Branch and European network. This involved all aspects of strategic premises management, from the conception and construction of large new buildings to the establishment of all supporting Facilities Departments and the day to day management of all related operational activities. His strategic role involved the establishment of accommodation strategies which achieved efficiencies in the way in which businesses occupied and managed their space and technologies, whilst at the same time built and maintained an efficient, profitable property portfolio for the company. In the course of these activities, he also established embedded protocols and processes for continuous measurement of service levels, both internally and externally via IPD.

Additionally he has extensive experience in both private and public sector organisations, including the implementation of significant advanced working projects within a variety of operational areas.

Penny Mason, BSc (Hons), MSc, FRSA

Associate

Penny has particular experience of strategic workspace planning, premises evaluations and facilities management. Prior to joining AWA her management experience included nearly a decade in senior corporate and strategic planning and business development roles.

As a consultant she has undertaken customer research and business process and activity analysis. Clients with whom she has worked on assignments include Lloyds TSB, The Environment Agency, Willis, ICI, BP, Pfizer, BAA, Merrill Lynch and Littlewoods.

Peter Wingrave, Dip Arch (Hons), RIBA

Senior Associate

Peter trained as an architect and diversified into the management of complex property portfolios and especially into the introduction of new ways of working.

Before joining AWA Peter worked for IBM real estate where he was responsible both for the management and then the direction of advanced style workplaces across IBM Europe. Throughout this period, Peter maintained close contacts with other companies throughout Europe carrying out similar programmes and therefore brings a broad perspective on advanced workstyles and their successful implementation.

Philippa Hale, MSc, MA (Oxon)

Associate

Philippa specialises in managing the people and change aspects of Advanced working. She has a particular interest in the management of people and teams who operate at a distance both in a UK and international context. She has worked with multicultural groups in the IT environment involving groups from Turkey, Brazil, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Germany, US, Australia, South Africa. She has lectured at Henley Management College and designed their short courses on making strategy happen across cultures. She is also a visiting lecturer at Kings College London.

Richard Watts, RIBA, FBIFM

Senior Associate

Richard is a leading expert in workplace strategy. Recent projects have been with clients such Littlewoods, Ernst & Young, Roche and BAA. He is currently working on a number of advanced working projects for a major bank.

Richard specialises in advising clients on innovative ways to gain greater performance from their workspace. Prior to developing his career in consultancy, Richard was a senior manager in IBM's UK Real Estate Team and a key player in IBM's pioneering move to Flexible Working.

Tony Ecuyer, FCII

Associate

Tony Ecuyer has fifteen years' experience of delivering major business change projects, including 3 Company mergers, within the financial services sector prior to joining AWA. He has experience in Process Improvement (including Six Sigma and Lean methodologies) Product Development and eCommerce.

Having been trained as a Life and Pensions professional, Tony moved into technology and then into Project and Programme management and has worked with Norwich Union (Aviva), General Accident and more recently RBS and Nationwide Building Society.

Tracy Short, HND (SIAD)

Associate

Tracy is one of our design & planning specialists with over 15 years experience in office planning and interior design. She has specific responsibilities for Interior Design, Space Planning, Space Analysis and 3D visualisation.

During her career she has worked as a consultant with a variety of leading companies within the Design & Build and Office Furniture sectors. She has wide experience and knowledge of the latest Computer Aided Design and 3D Visualisation software packages. She has designed specific solutions for the following AWA clients Willis, MBDA, BP, Nationwide Building Society, Clearstream and Pfizer.

Wes McGregor, BSc, BArch, RIBA, FCMI, FRIAS, FBIFM

Director

Wes is a founding AWA Director with specific responsibility for AWA’s Workplace Development specialism.

In addition to his considerable experience gained from over 26 years of consultancy, Wes is also on the training panel of the BIFM, a visiting lecturer at the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and is invited frequently to contribute to conferences and seminars on property, workstyles and facilities management subjects.

He is co-author of the book 'Facilities Management and the Business of Space'.
